Goodbye 2017, hello 2018! It always feels amazing to start fresh in the new year. Doesn’t it? In previous years I’ve boycotted the whole “New Years Resolutions” thing. I think the main reason was because of the fear that I wouldn’t be able to accomplish them. Well I’m saying goodbye to that fear this year and came up with several “goals” and habits I plan to stick to this year. I thought I’d share them with you today!
Practice self-care regularly. I’ve recently realized how important self care is for your mental health. Being mindful of how your feeling and carving out time to do something for yourself is SO important. I don’t just mean getting your nails done or getting a massage (yes, those would help!) but also completing a project that you’ve been meaning to do, reading a good book or writing a list of 5 things you’re grateful for. I’ve started journaling and am so excited to keep it going. I want to include positive affirmations such as “I am healthy and happy!” and “I will accomplish my 2018 goals!”. Because It’s true what they say, “you bring about what you think about”. I also picked up this book called “52 Lists for Happiness“. It’s a list a week and the prompts encourage self reflection and inspiring joyful thoughts.
Don’t hold back when it comes to my business. Due to insecurities, I find myself holding back when it comes to blogging. I have so much I want to share with you all, and this year I am going to make it a point to not hold back. One thing I want to improve are my Instagram stories. I am SCARED to talk to the camera. WHY?! That’s ridiculous. I just have to remember that my followers follow me for a reason and that you may be interested in hearing what I have to say.
Stop comparing myself to others. Instagram is not real life. Yet I compare myself to others on there on a daily basis! I honestly didn’t realize I was even doing it at first. I would spend hours looking at other bloggers perfectly curated stories & IG feeds and would think thoughts like “Wow, they’re so much more successful than I am”. This year I need to put my focus into my OWN content and stay in my lane. I no longer want to compare myself to other people’s highlight reels on social media.
Maintain a schedule. Since I work from home, I really struggle with maintaining a daily schedule. It’s so easy to sleep in or just be like “Oh I’ll do that later!” and never get around to doing it. This year It’s going to be different! It’s so important to have routines in your life or you won’t get anything done. As silly as this may sound to many, I need to make it a point to get dressed every single day. No more working from the couch in my pajamas all day. It doesn’t make me feel productive and honestly makes me feel kind of bleh. I also want to time block to be more efficient and get more done each day!
Lose another 15 pounds. Last May I decided I was going to lose 15 pounds and I DID! It took me about 6 months but I am so proud of myself for doing it! This year I want to lose 15 more pounds. I want to find an exercise class that I enjoy and continue to cut back my portion sizes and sugar intake. Let’s do this!
Plan out meals in advance. On that same note, I want to plan out all of my meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks) in advance. That way I’m not running to Chik Fil a for some nuggets last minute! 🙈 this will help me with eating healthy and it will be less of a hassle trying to figure out what I will eat for each meal.
Plan out blog content and post consistently. This year I want to create and stick to a content calendar. Planning out blog post content so I can share posts on a consistent basis is a main goal for 2018. I strive to post Monday, Wednesday, & Friday but sadly it doesn’t always happen! It always helps when I create a very organized calendar, so that’s what I need to do!
I’d love to hear what your 2018 goals are. What do you hope to accomplish this year? On another note, I love this little space of mine and am SO grateful for all your support this past year. Whether you’ve been a long time reader or are just visiting my blog for the first time, THANK YOU so much for being here! I’m so ready to see whats in store for all of us in 2018! xo
