Happy Wednesday, friends! I’m so excited to share our bedroom decor and some tips on how to make your bedroom cozy with you all today. Whether it’s with my wardrobe or my home, you all know I like to keep things as cozy as possible! Haha. Being comfortable is important to me and I think when decorating a home you can easily add a few elements that make your space feel like home!
One of the coziest spots in our home is of course the bedroom. My husband is great because he puts up with my love of blush pink, hehe. His thing is “I’m fine with it as long as it’s comfortable!” We’re a perfect match, lol. I also just tend to add blush pink when it comes to accessories (for example: throw pillows, blankets, decorative items) so they can be interchanged. The main color scheme in our home is grey and white!
Neutral/light color scheme
Try to pick colors that elicit the feeling you want to have when you are in that room. Some colors tend to energize and are a stimulant whereas other colors are very tranquil and promote feelings of calmness.
I prefer a neutral color palette with soft pinks, greys and white. But If you do want to add some color, try to stick to green, blue, purple or pink (psychologists say these colors have been found to be more calming.)
Lighting
Lighting is key for creating a cozy space. In the day time this room has really great natural light so I don’t turn on any lamps or lights here until evening.
In the evening, I’d recommend soft lighting from lamps and no harsh overhead lighting. Switch out your lightbulbs for these blue light blocking light bulbs. We have these exact ones in our home and they’re perfect. I like knowing the light won’t interrupt my sleep (I also wear these blue light blocking glasses at night.)
Incorporate different textures
I love incorporating different textures in my home decor. You will find that this will really make the room pop and make your decor look next level. There’s something about it that makes the room look more cozy too! There are a several ways I do this in our bedroom.
I like to add faux fur (like in the pillows and the rug.) The little pom pom detail on the pillows, the tufted detail on our comforter and the feather juju hat wall decor are all examples of this!
Relaxing scents
This past year I’ve really gotten into essential oils because of the effect they have on my mood! Plus, they smell good and are good for you! I use different oils to promote different feelings throughout the day.
At night I love diffusing the Serenity oil blend in our bedroom as well as applying it on the bottom of my feet and on my neck. I swear I sleep so good when I do this!! It makes our bedroom so cozy and helps me get ready for bed.
Throws & pillows
This one is pretty obvious but throw blankets and pillows automatically make any space more cozy! The pillows we have on our bed are actually comfortable which I think is important. Just a personal preference, but I tend to stay away from decorative, seasonal type pillows in the bedroom.
I hope you enjoyed reading my 5 tips on how to make your bedroom cozy!! Do you have any other things you feel help add to a rooms “cozy factor”? If you do, you have to share them with me in the comments below! Here’s to all the cozy vibes in your home this fall/winter season! xo
