Today’s post is a little different than usual but I really wanted to share a new part of my daily routine that I’m loving and have seen benefits from! I struggle with anxiety and was looking to add more self care into my life. I felt like I really struggled with getting my day started each morning and didn’t have much of a routine. It was recommended to me that I start journaling. Journaling was always a little intimidating to me- I didn’t know what the heck I’d write and didn’t really understand the point of it to be honest.
When I decided to start journaling each morning it felt forced at first. After making myself start my morning that way every day for a week or so, I actually started looking forward to it! To make it simple, I don’t hold any expectations for my journaling time. I allow myself to write about whatever I want/am feeling that day and It doesn’t have to be for a certain amount of time either.
I found when I start off my day reflecting on what I’m thankful for and just taking a minute to write, it helps clear my mind and helps me to gain a new perspective on whatever is going on. I’ve never really talked about my anxiety here on my blog. But I’ve been feeling the need to start sharing as I know many of you have the same struggles that I do.
I wanted to share 5 things I typically write in my journal each day! Having these things in mind makes it easier to just start writing..
WHAT I’M THANKFUL FOR TODAY: I always make sure to write down a few things I’m thankful for each day. This can completely change your mood and really helps put everything in perspective. I try to switch these things up each day but sometimes they are the same.
WHAT I’M EXCITED FOR TODAY Having something to look forward to is everything! I love writing down the little things I’m excited for whether it’s a coffee date with a friend or a bubble bath. I try to list 5 things each day!
5 POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS What you speak about, you bring about! I write down 5 positive affirmations each day. These can be “I am healthy and happy”, “I am committed to accomplishing my goals!” etc.
5 THINGS I WANT TO ACCOMPLISH TODAY I write down the top 5 most important things I need to accomplish that day. This really helps me get my day started and stay on track throughout the day too.
PRAYERS & MISC. THOUGHTS I also do a daily devotional (lately on the Bible app but I have several that I read) then I write down my prayers and any additional thoughts for the day.
I also fill out my 52 Lists for Happiness journal once a week. I can’t recommend that book enough! I love grabbing my coffee, breakfast and sitting down in this cozy corner with my journals! How do you all feel about journaling? Is it part of your daily routine?
Thanks for reading and allowing me to get a little vulnerable on here! Please let me know if you enjoy these type of posts. I’d love to continue to share them.. xo!
